On March 16, 2022, Minervet S.A. organized a training session for the Guatemalan distributor, Turpilasa, and its customers. Mainly, the conference was focused on the presentation of Miner E, a natural additive indicated to mitigate the main challenges facing the egg industry.
In the introduction, the talk has focused on describing control techniques for egg quality, egg and shell formation, and how calcium deficiency can affect shell quality.
Mineral deficiency, mainly calcium, can lead to the presence of coltsfoot eggs, alterations in the keel and other bones, cage fatigue syndrome and an increased percentage of broken eggs. These parameters negatively affect the profitability of the farm.
Miner E to improve intestinal welfare in laying hens
In this sense, the Minervet team recommended Miner E, a product that is made up of plant extracts with bioactive molecules called shikimates, which improve the absorption of calcium and other minerals at the intestinal level.
The product is specially designed for periods of high productive demand (laying peak, late laying stages with a 5% reduction) and its use is indicated in laying and breeding birds for:
- ensure a good quality of the shell, through a correct use of calcium in the diet,
- reduce the percentage of broken eggs,
- avoid cage fatigue syndrome and bone problems resulting from mineral deficiency and
- improve the internal quality of the egg.
The product can also be used in broilers, where studies have shown that Miner E supplementation improves bone quality and prevents femoral head breakage problems.
The studies presented showed how Miner E improves the utilization of calcium and phosphorus from the diet, so that these minerals are available for shell formation and bone demineralization is avoided.
